Friar Down Under

This blog aims to provide reflections on life in Australia and the World through the eyes of a Franciscan Friar.

St Francis of Assisi saw Christ present in the nature around him and saw all people as his brother and sister in Christ. He was willing to cross battlelines to proclaim peace. He placed radical trust in the potential goodness of all people calling them to be the image of God that they were created to be.

The Friars Minor follow a rule of life written by St Francis of Assisi: “to observe the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ in chastity and obedience with nothing of ones own.” St Francis called his companions to have a radical trust in God and their fellow human beings, made in the image of God. He called all people to recognise others their brothers and sister. Further he saw all creation as being related, family, having the same Father.
